WEEK 27 

Monday 24th May 

On Monday after playing the guessing game and check homework we practice speaking with pictures. We worked on differences and asking for information. We also had a stamp challenge!! 

Thursday 26th May 

On Thursday we started by checking the stamp challenge for the previous lesson and then we continued with speaking practice, this time, telling a story according to the pictures. 


WEEK 26 

On Tueday we read the story of the unit and checked homework 

On Thursday we did a listening task and we talked about nationalities, countries and flags. We also read a text on page 76 and talked about where thing we use everyday are made. For homework we have to do exercise 4 page 77 





WEEK 25

On Tuesday we played the guessing game and then we spent the rest of the class doing a listening practice test. 

On Thursday we checked homework from last week adn then we played the guessing game as usual. Then we invented crazy rules for class using should and shouldn't and we read them aloud. Finally we did a listening task. For homework we have to read the story of the unit. 







WEEK 24

On Tuesday we started a new topic, this time the time travellers are in a market in Istanbul. We first talked about countries and about what we know about Turkey. Then we listened and copied in out notebooks the new vocabulary. Finally we listened to the time travellers and answer the questions.

On Thursday we played the guessing game with the new vocabulary and then we worked on the gramma focus: should/shouldn't . In groups we wrote the thing we should and shouldn't do in differente places and we presented it to the rest of the class. 





WEEK 23

On Tuesday, as usual, we started the lesson playing the guessing game and checkeing homework. After that we read a western story on the books and then we worked in pairs inventing and writing our western stories. 

On Thursday we reviewed vocabulary with the guessing game and the teacher set a stamp question. After the excitement of the stamp questions we finished our western stories and read them to the rest of the class. 


For homework we have to do the grammar focus on page 124. 









WEEK 22

On Tuesday we were talking about native americans. First we read the text on page 64 and then we talked about how they lived and about their traditions. 

On Thursday we started playing the guessing game with the words that we learned on Tuesday. Then we continued with the topic of native americans and read a text about gold mines and indians. Finally the teacher set a challenge; since we were talking about why gold is so valuable and what it is used for, the challenge was to write down five pieces of jewellery. Congratulations for Natalia, as she was the only one to complete the challenge. 
Homework: page 69 exercise 1




WEEK 21 

This week we were back from holidays and we only had one lesson. We started playing the guessing game and then we listened and read the story of the unit. We answered a challenge question and then we did the lsitening task on page 65 about the name of north american states. For homework we have to to read the text on page 64 and complete activity 1. 




WEEK 20

Tuesday 8th March 

As usual we started playing the guessing game with the new words learnt last week. We checked homeowrk and then we worked on a new grammar focus: to be made of... to be used for... We played a game using these new structures.

Thursday 10th March 

After playing the guessing game we listened to the song of the unit and did a fill in the gap activity. Then we continued with the grammar focus and at the end we got a challenge questions!! For homework we have to do the page 123. 




WEEK 19 

On Thursday we acted out our role plays and we started unit 5. This time the time travellers are in the Wild West, we learned new words related to cowboys and sheriffs. We ended up with a listening task. Homework: exercise 1 page 59. 

On Tuesday we first played the guessing game then we reviewed common expressions customerns and waiters say when ordering a meal and we worked in pairs preparing a role play at the restaurant.





WEEK 18 

On Tuesday fwe first read the story of the unit aloud and then we checked homework. Then we continued talking about food, we read a blog entry on chocolate facts and talked about food we like and food we don't like. We also had a challenge questions and this time most of us got the stamp!! 

On Thursday we first played two rounds of the guessing game. We did the listening activities on page 53 and then talked about ingredients and steps in the ice cream recipe. Finally thanks to the challenge questions we learnt a new word: stir.
Homework: page 54 exercises 2 and 3 and page 55 exercises 1, 2 and 3. 





WEEK 17

On Tuesday we started with the guessing game, then we checked the grammar focus and after that we practised saying sentences with if. 


On Thursday after the game we read the a blog entry about the craziest food ever!! Wallpaper to lick with different flavours, invisible fudge to put on pencils and eat in class, chewing gums that taste like a 3 course meal... We read about them we did the activity on page 51 and then the teacher proposed a challengue question. What does three course meal mean?? It was difficult but some of us got the stamp!! COngratulationf for them and for the students of the week too! For homework we have to read the story of the unit and do exercise 3 pages 49 and 50. 









WEEK 16 

On Tuesday we first checked homework and we started unit 4. We listened to new the new adventures of the time travellers, this time they are in the year 3032. We learnt then new vocabulary and we played a game, this time, the odd one out.

On Thursday we worked on the ordinal numbers, we all said our birhday's dates and we did the activities on page 47. We also worked on the grammar focus on page 48; sentences with if. For homework we have to do exercise 1 on page 48 and the grammar exercises on page 122















WEEK 15 

On Tuesday we first read the story of the unit aloud and then we checked homework. After that listen to the song of the unit on page 36 and listenend to some Elvis' hits and rocked and rolled a bit!!



On Thursday we played the guessing game and then we did the istening activity on page 40. We learnt and talked about different things from the 50's such as Cadillacs, swing skirts and jukeboxes. For homework we have to read the text on page 41 and do exercise 2. 





Week 14

On Tuesday we joined the green class and we did some tasks in pairs. The first one was a guessing game and the second a crossword, we enjoyed a lot and the best thing was that we got lots of stamps for the great job with did!! 

On Thrusday we were back to our class, first we checked homework, then we played the guessing game and we worked on the book, we did the reading on page 37 about a day in the life of a superstar. There was a CHALLENGE QUESTION!!! As usual we get very excited with the question. This time three students got the stamps! Congratulations!! For homework we have to read the story of the unit (pages 38-39) and do exercise 3 





Week 13 

Tuesday we started the new unit; it's about rock and roll. The time travellers are in the 1950's in an Enlvis Presley's concert. We listened to them and then learnt the new vocabulary 

Thursday it's the turn for grammar. We worked on a new grammar focus: GOING TO. For homework we have to the grammar activities on pages 120 and 121.

WEEK 12 

Tuesday 12th January


On Tuesday  we started by checking the homework we had for holidays. Then we did a lsitening about Bengal Tiger, King Cobras and Spiders. We learnt interesting facts about them. Then the teacher proposed a new activity: THE CHALLENGUE QUESTION!! . We all loved the idea, the teacher makes a difficult questions, it can be about grammar, vocabulary, how to translate a sentence, how to say an expression in English.... we all write our answers on the notebooks and the ones who get it right get a stamp. This week only Guillermo got the correct answer! Congratulations Guille!! Now everbody knows how to translate the structure: there is/ are something left. 



Thursday 14th January 

On Thursday we read about a tribe in the Amazon rainforest that was discovered in 2008 and we came across we many new words in the text so we ended up with a long list of new vocabulary to learn. At the end of the class we played the guessing game. 

Homework: Descriptions of places. Exercieses 1, 2,3 and 4 on page 33

WEEK 11

This week was the last week before the Christmas break. On Tuesday we checked homework, we read the story of the unit and we also reviewed numbers. We ended up the lesson with the guessing game, this time with Christmas words. On Thursday the teacher had prepared Christmas activities.We listened to traditional carols while we did a wordsearch and a word match up and then using all the words in both activities we played a Christmas Bingo. 





WEEK 10 

This week we only had class on Thursday. We did a short flyers test with a listening and a reading task. We found it a bit hard so we listened a couple of times more and then we checked all together. Finally the students who didn't speak about a natural disaster last week talked about them. This week we are free for homework!!







WEEK 9 

On Tuesday we read our writings about natural disasters and we started unit 2: RAINFOREST. First we brainstormed all we knew about the rainforest and then we listened to the time travellers in their jungle experience. After that we wrote down in out notebooks the new vocabulary. 



On Thursday we first listened to some students reading about their natural disasters writing and then we played a mimic game with the new words we learnt on Tuesday. After that we read about the Amazon. Finally we worked on the language focus of the unit: numbers. We practice how to read/write big numbers! For homework we have to write the numbers we copied from the blackboard and read the story of the unit and do exercise 3. 






WEEK 8 

On Tuesday the green class joined us and we showed them how to play the guessing game. On Thursday we were back to book, we chekced the homework, we learnt the difference between bored-boring, interested-interesting and we listened to a presentation about a hurricane in the USA. For homework we have to prepare our presentation about a natural disaster. By the way, Thursday was Thanksgiving day so HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!





WEEK 7 

This week we went on with natural disasters. We learned how to name them and described what happens in each of them. We read the story of the unit aloud and we checked homework. On Thursday we played the guessing game and we read about volcanoes. Finally we learned and listened about Katrina, the hurricane that took place in New Orleans in 2007. For homework we have to read page 18 on volcanoes and complete the exercise





Tuesday 10t November

We had class together with the green class. We watched a video and we did some activities related to it. 

Thursday 12th November

Today after playing the guessing game we checked the grammar focus 1 and then the teacher explained the second grammar focus (on page 13) of the unit and we did some practice. For homework we have to read the story on pages 14 and 15. 






Thursday 6th November
On Thursday we started with the guessing games and then we worked on the new grammar focus. We said and wrote some senteces using past simple and continuous. For homework we have to do the grammar exercises on page 119


Tuesday 3rd November

On Tuesday we started guessing the new words. We supone about Ancient Pompeii and we lis tened to the time travellers. Them the tea hacer made questions about the listening and we did exercise 3.



Thursday 29th October

Thrusday was exciting! We played a Halloween Bingo and couple of time and the winners got spooky stickers! We also watched a video about carving pumpkins and we spoke about the difference between a pumpkin and a Jack-o'-lantern. Finally we played a Halloween hangman and we did a Halloween online wordsearch and of course, we enjoyed these games having some candies and lollipops. 





Tuesday 27th October

On Tuesday we first checked homework and later we read the first story of the book. We learned more thing about the Time Travellers and how they created the time gate with the flash. Then we teacher explained the new words in the story and she asked some questions about it. Finally we did the exercises about the story on the book 



Tuesday 20 October

On Tuesday first we checked the grammar focus and review questions in past. Then we listened to the Phoebe, Patrick and Alex doing a experiment in the lab and answered some questions related to the listening. Then we watched the video of the week and commented on some of the experiments. 


Thursday 22nd October

We first played the guessing game. Then we listened to the song of the unit and talked about the time travellers. Finally we read the second grammar focus; we have to copy and answer the questions for homework (page 7)






Thursday 15th October

We had a great surprise!! The new books!! We delivered them, we smelled them (we all loved the smell of new books!!) and after the excitement we started working on them. We read the vocabulary of the first unit and the teacher explained the first grammar focus of the year. For homework we have to complete the exercise on page 118 related to grammar focus 1. 






Tuesday 13th October

On Tuesday we did two pair works. We had to asked questions to each other to complete our exercises since our partners had the answers to our questions.



Thursday 8th October

We continue working with pictures and differences but this time we had to write sentences on our notebooks. It took us the whole class since there were more than 15 differences. By the end of the class we did not agree on the number on differences but we agreed there were many to write them down 




Tuesday 

On Tuesday after explaing to our new students the guessing game and doing two rounds the teacher showed us a picture to look for differences and we were saying them to the class. 





Wednesday 20th May 

Today we first reviewed the new words learnt the other day. Then we practice saying sentences with gerunds. In pairs we had to create a dialogue using them. After that we practice for the FLYERS speaking test, this time, the story part. The test in only in two weeks and we are now working harder to get the best marks!





Monday 18th May 

First we checked the grammar focus. Then we started unit 8. It's about space, we learnt new words and we practice saying them. After that we listened to Phoebe, Patrick and Alex, this time they went back to 1969, when the first humans landed on the moon. Our characters were in Houston office!! We listened to their conversation and we did exercise 3 completing the gaps with information from the recording.


Wednesday, 13th May

Today we woeked on writing. On our notebooks we had to write a story using direct speech and improving it with adjectives. We all wrote very nice stories, we read them aloud and we talked about them. For homework, boring stuff... we are back to the grammar focus!! Page 124!

Monday 11th May 

We worked first on reading and writing. During the first 30 minutes we did a mock exam and then we practice speaking; first with answering questions about our lives and then saying the differences in the pictures.


Monday  27th April 

On Monday we first checked the homework and then we practice conversation in pairs. We followed the model dialogue and we prepared our own dialogues in pairs. Here you can see how we acted out some of our dialogues








Wednesday 22nd April 

On Wednesday we started reviewing the vocabulary. Then we studied a new grammar focus: enough and too. We did some speaking practice with these structures and then the teacher dictate a filling the gap exercise. Finally we played a guessing game. Homework: write the sentences of the pictures on exercise 3 done in class


Monday 20th April

Today we started unit 6. We learnt new vocabulary: tools. We also listened to Phoebe, Patrick and Alex, this time they went to the future and met a professor who invents crazy inventions. We did the listening task and we anwered the teacher's questions. Then we played a mimic game to practice the new vocabulary



Wednesday 15 April 

Since Monday was a specil day we didn't check homework so we started by checking them. Later we continued speaking about monuments and interesting places in London. Fianlly we move on to a new topic: painting! We read and learn about Impressionism and Realism. We have nver heard before about artists like Monet or Renoir so we read a text about them and saw some of their paintings. For homework we have to write the postcard on page 69. 

We went to send a kiss to Ariadna. We miss you and hope you get better soon!

Monday 13th April 

Today we celebrated the book day in the school. The topic of the day was Alice in Wonderland. Since it was a special day for us the lesson was a bit different and we spent the class playing  a word game with words related to Alice' story. Finally we sing Avril Lavigne's song: 






Wednesday 8th April

After the holidays we spent some time telling what we did. Later we checked homework and we read the sotry of the unit aloud. After that we did a listening task we started reading a text about London. We have to finish reading the text for homework and answer the questions.





Monday 16th March

First we checked homework. After that we did a wiritng task: a letter of complaint. Then we did some practice for flyers. First we worked individually on part 1 and then we checked together and continued saying definitions for the words left in the exercise. 







 Wednesday 18th March

On Wednesday we started unit 5 and we learned new words. We also learnt about the great fire of London. We did the listening and the exercise 1 on pages 58/59. For homework we have to do the grammar focus 1 on page 123.

Monday 2nd March and Wednesday 

This week most of the class was in the week camp so our lessons were different. We spent the first half of the class working on FLYERS tasks (reading and writing) and then we could play some online games with the laptop on Monday and with the tablets on Wednesday.

Wednesday 11th March 

Today's topic was the muscles! We are enjoyed the  topic since it's the one we are studien now in class. Well, except for Celia, but she also liked it ;-)  We read the text in class and spoke about it and for homework we have to do exercise 3 on our notebooks




Monday 9th March 

 On Monday we worked on the book. We continued with the topic of Olympic games. First we read a text and complete an exercise and then we listened about animals and how good they could be at some Olympic sports.



Wednesday 25th February 

Today we worked on grammar. The teacher explained a new grammar focus: present continuous tesnse for future plans. Homework: grammar focus on p. 122

Monday 23rd February 

On Monday we reviewed the exam all together. Then we practiced our dialogues and finally we practice saying again the differences on the speaking test. 


Monday and Wednesday . 

This week we have done progress tests to show the teacher the great job we have done so far and that we are learning a lot. On Monday we did listening, reading and writing and on Wednesday we did the speaking part.

Homework: make up our own dialogues similar to the ones on the book (unit 4)

Wednesday 11th February 
  
We started with the grammar focus of the unit could. The teacher explained how to use could and then we all said thing that we could do after the class. Then we did the exercise on grammar focus p. 122 and we went back to the unit to read the dialogue on p. 47. Finally we invented our own dialogues in pairs using could. 

For homework we have to review the grammar and vocabulary on Units 1,2 and 3 and of course the list of irregular verbs.

Monday 9th February 

We started unit 4 'Olympic sports' . First we drew a mind map with sports. Then we listened and said the new words. After that we read the text and listened to Phoebe, Patrick and Alex and answered the questions on exercise 2. Then we played a mime game acting out Olympic sports such as wrestling, long jump, etc. (page 46).



Wednesday 4th February

We worked on speaking. First we learnt a new part of the FLYERS speaking test in which we have to make and answer questions about the information the examiner gives us. We particed this part first all together and then in pairs. Then we worked on the 3rd part, we had to tell a story according to the pictures. We wrote down the story on our notebooks. For homework we have to write an invitation to a party (page 49) 



Monday 2nd February

We started by checking homework. Then we did a listenign practice for FLYERS and we read the story on page 41.


Monday 19th January


We started by checking the homework. We read the story aloud and wrote down some new words. This week we are learning something new: the passive voice. Let's say that it's not difficult, just challenging for us. The teacher explained and we copied the grammar focus on our notebooks. Then the teacher said some sentences in the active voice that we had to changed into the passive voice

Wednesday 21st January

We continued with the passive. Later we moved on to the second grammar focus of the unit: a lot, lots of, a few and a little. The teacher explained us how to use them with countable and uncountable nouns. Then we did a small reading exercise from the book and finally we watched and talked about the video of the week. Homework: page 121 (grammar focus 1 and 2)

Wednesday 14th January. 

Today we started unit 3. It's about the Ancient Egyt. We learnt new words linke pyramid, sphinx, hieroglyphics or chariot. The teacher introduced a new grammar focus: the passive voice. This is something completely new for us so the following this we will be working on this grammar. For homework we have to read the story of the unit and do exercise 3.

Monday 12th January. 

After a long break without English lessons in Coami English School we are back and ready to work and get ready for the flyers exam. We started sharing with our classmated what we did on holidays. Then, because it was the first the day, instead of working with the book we did a very funny drawing activity based on picture description, that means, we all said a sentences describing a scene and we had to draw that we heard. We showed our talent as artists and we laughed looking all our drawings after the picture description task. 


Wednesday 10th December

We started by checking the homework; all together we read the text and translate it. Then we did the listening on p.29; we learnt about three unusual ways of transport: the gondola, the becak and the pedicab. Then we continued speaking about transport.

Wednesday 3rd December

On Wednesday we started reading the text about Bangkok and different ways to get aorund this city. We learned that it is one of the busiest cities in the world and than getting aroung it can be quite stressful. After reading and talking about the capital of Thailand we did the exercise on the book. Then we spent the last ten minutes of the class palying scrambled words.
 Homework: read the story of the unit.

Monday 1st December

Today we started checing homework and then we spoke about the future usingWILL and WON'T. We discuss about how cities will be in the future. Then in pairs we prepared our own dialogues speaking about the cities of the future.



Monday 24th November

On Monday we started by checking the homework. Then we started a new unit, in this unit the vocabulary is about future transport so we made a mind map with all the words that we know related to means of transport. Then we did a short listening exercise. Also we worked on the grammar focus; this time was about NEED TO and DON'T NEED TO and we spoke about the things we need or don't need to do at home and at school. 





Wednesday 26th November

On Wednesday we reviewed the vocabulary and then we focused the class on speaking. First we read a dialogue from the book and then we worked in pairs creating a similar dialogue about starting a new hobby. We worked quite well and all the dialogues were good so the teacher decided that all the pairs would receive a sticker! Congratulations for you works! Keep working this way!


WEDNESDAY 19th November 

On Wednesday we started by asking and answering questions with How long... Then we read a newspaper article about antiquities and we were discussing what we would do if we found a valuable object. Then we changed seats and we all sat individually to do the listening task. As we always do, we listened to the recording twice. We listened to a radio show where they interview a person who found a Roman bracelet. Then we checked the listening and we found out that it wasn't so difficult! For homework we had to follow the questions on p.17 to invent our own story about a finding and write it on the notebook.

MONDAY 17th November

On Monday we started by watching the videos of the week and the previous one and speaking about them. Then we checked the homework. Then we reviewed the vocabulary about pirates with some questions the teacher asked. Finally we worked on the book.


WEDNESDAY 12th November

On Monday 11th it was holiday so this week we only had class on Wednesday. We started by checking the translation we had to do for homework. The teacher was very proud of us becuase even if it was a little bit challenging ( not difficult) we all did it and it was quite good. Then we worked on the book with for and since. We listened to the grammar focus and we practice how to use since and for in sentences with present perfect. We also did a reading exercise, we read about an interview to a man whose hooby is looking for metal with its metal detector. The teacher made questions about the interview and we answered. Later we worked in pairs asking questions to each other using HOW LONG...? For home work we ahve to read the story about pirates on pages 18 and 19 and do exercise 3.

Monday 3rd November, 

The teacher explained how to make relatives sentences with who, where and which. Then we wrote the grammar focus on our notebooks and she set up some sentences for us to practice. We also talked about the video of the previous week, it was about dinosaurs, eventhough we understood the video, it was difficult to explain in English what the video was about but at the end we managed and we learn key vocabulary like bones or fossils.

Wednesday 5th November, 

We started by playing a guessing game; the teacher read a definition and we had to guess the word. We liked but some of the words were knew for us like basket hoop or net. Then we did a listening task, it was about the pirates in Unit 1, we listened to the recording three times!!! some parts were so difficult to get!
